Coming late in the summer of 2012 is the book “What the folk are we doing” by Jay Psaros. The book is written in a journal style as he chronicles his time crossing the country as an independent musician. The stories take you through the aftermath of the Joplin Tornado, down through the plains of Oklahoma and into the dry flat landscape of Texas. Stories of good shows, great shows and bad shows chronicle the challenges of independent musicians as they tour the country in pursuit of a healthy career. Follow Jay and his cohort Olivia all the way through the southwest and to the west coast where they have a stint in Hollywood, cruise the California coast, and eventually arrive in Alaska for a run of folk music in the last frontier.
